PR electronics' new, universal transmitter 5116A is ready for sale
Universal functions
PRetrans 5116 is a new, universal transmitter in PR’s popular range of signal
conditioning modules. The unit can be configured to suit the desired application
within a few minutes in the office or directly in the process. 5116 has a broad
applicability in practically all industries with a need for signal conversion,
isolation, scaling, amplification, surveillance, barriers etc.
5116 can be configured for all types of industrial measuring signal such as
e.g. RTD, TC, Ohm, mA, V and mVDC by way of a PC and the programming kit 5905
(RS232) or 5909 (USB). Naturally, the unit can also be delivered pre-configured
from factory.
The programmable output delivers active mA and V signals. Furthermore, the
unit can deliver a passive 2-wire output suited for the input of a PLC. The
universal signal conditioning is backed by sophisticated functions in the
transmitter, as e.g. the possibility of linearisation and process calibration as
well as setting of programmable sensor error detection and much more.
5116 features universal power supply, which means that the module will accept
24...250 VDC and 24…230 VAC irrespective of polarity.
Flexible surveillance
PRetrans 5116 comes with 2 relays which can be used independently of one
another for surveillance of e.g. flow, level, temperature, speed, or whichever
measurement signal the input reflects. The relays can be set up as single trip
amplifiers, window function, sensor error detection and much more.
Barrier for gas and dust
Our new transmitter is an excellent choice when you need a barrier for
receiving signals from hazardous areas containing gas or dust. 5116 is approved
for receiving signals from gas zones 0, 1 or 2 and from dust zones 20, 21 or 22.
The two relays ensure a simple, safe and maintenance-free surveillance of
signals in the hazardous area. The Ex model 5116B is expected to be released
within a couple of months.
Safe signal conditioning
PRetrans 5116 has been designed according to PR electronics’ strict demands
for safety at all levels. The module complies with NAMUR NE43 (sensor error) and
NE21 (EMC), the Low Voltage Directive (LVD) as well as UL 508 – general
safety. In keeping with our high safety standards, the unit is galvanically
isolated with 3.75 kVAC on all ports. In case of a sensor error, 5116 ensures a
reliable alarm signal via the analogue output signal, the relay functions and
the LED indication in the front of the module.
