In an industry characterised by outsourcing to the Far East, PR electronics succeeds via Danish production of devices for industrial signal conditioning

Right now PR electronics’ Danish headquarters is undergoing the largest expansion ever. On 27 April the first sod was cut for an enlargement which will result in 3300 new square metres.

This project is the visible proof of our expectation of the continued and increasing progress in our seven sales subsidiaries in Europe and the USA over the coming years. In addition, a newly established subsidiary in China is expected to further speed up PR electronics’ export of transmitters, displays and other devices for industrial automation.

Jobs are kept in Denmark
Hereby we also make it clear that we have no intention of moving our production from Denmark to the Far East or Eastern Europe. On the contrary, we will keep all the jobs in our Danish headquarters which will be able to accommodate another fifty employees after the expansion. Instead of outsourcing to low pay areas we stake on modern production methods and the efficiency gained by having all under one roof.

The project - in brief
Out of the total 3300 m2 expansion, the 2800 m2 will be made up by three production wings that will be finished already in the autumn of 2010. Besides production facilities, these wings are going to contain configuration, test department, stock facilities plus a changing room and a fitness centre. When the expansion is completed in the summer of 2011, more space will also be available for the development, sales and marketing departments, and a new canteen building with room for 150 persons will be ready. In addition to all this, there will be a lecture room as well as product training facilities. The expansion, which is the fifth on the present address, is executed by the contractor NCC.

Focus on energy conservation
In the new buildings the ventilation air will be utilised via a heat pump, while waste heat from an air compressor will be used to heat water in the kitchen. Moreover we will use energy-saving glass and extra insulation in the facing walls.
