Limestone

Flow and temperature measurements

A SO2 scrubber is necessary to remove sulfur dioxide from boiler and furnace exhaust gases. In the scrubbing process, crushed limestone mixed with water reacts with the sulfur dioxide in the exhaust gas.

A non-contact flow meter on the slaking water feed line is required to compensate for pressure changes in the water supply. In addition, thermocouple temperature measurements including high alarm for cooling system temperature is required to control the consistency of the slurry to avoid it getting to thick.

A solution for the slaking water feed line application is the PR 4104 universal uni-/bipolar signal transmitter combined with the PR 4510 display / programming front. The PR 4104 powers the 3-wire flow meter and provides a 2-wire style 4...20 mA output to a PLC, resulting in a fast response time.

A solution for the slurry consistency application is the 9116A universal transmitter combined with the PR 4510 display / programming front. The 9116A uses the 5910 CJC connector to ensure highly accurate thermocouple measurement and provides a 2-wire style 4...20 mA output to a PLC.
